Funny stories of things that happen at work. Seeing as this is my first job and I’m leaving it in a week, I thought I’d share some of the joy I get working at a cupcake shop.
+2 teen girls walk in covered in glitter
Girl 1: Do you know what we are!?!?!?
Girl 2: Were VAMPIRES! <3 <3 <3
Me: Ha ha ha… Uhm, ok. How can I help you…[?]
+2 hot guys come into work with their sister
Hot guy 1: You’re the perfect girl. You’re cute and bubbly, your smile is amazing AND you smell like cupcakes.
Hot guy 2: Not to mentions she’s watching Teen Titans.
Hot guy 1: Do you have any applications so I can work with you?
>Their mom walks in
Mom: Uhm, no. I’m sorry, their going to be volunteering in South America for the summer. I guess they can’t seem to think straight when they see a pretty girl. [winks]
+Cute little girl
Cute girl to mom: Mommy, when I grow up can I be like her? She’s pretty.
Me: Trust me, you’re way cuter than me. I’m pretty sure you’re going to be a model when you grow up.<3
+2 regulars [teen girls]
Girl 1: Are you hiring?
Me: Actually, yes we are. I’m going to be leaving soon, so there’ll be an opening.
Girl 1: Great.. WAIT! You’re leaving? I wanted to work with you so we could become friends, and then I could hang out with you!
Me: I’m sorry? But, it’s fun working here anyways. [awkward]
[[then they creeped on me until we closed. Then asked me if I wanted to join them for dinner.]] [uber awkward]
+Group of football players
Guy 1: I took my friends here to see you. Most of them don’t like cupcakes but I told them that your smile could change their mind.
Me: Hahaha. I don’t think so. [awkward smile]
[Every single one bought a cupcake… or two.]
After they left, 30 minutes later, 2 from the group came back to tell me that I made their day. :]
+2 little girls
[they approach our trash can, which looks like Oscar the Grouch’s can.]
They ask me: Does cookie monster live in here?
Guy: I might just start coming here because they apparently hire models to sell cupcakes.
Things that happen to me while selling cupcakes:
Guys keep coming back every 30 minutes to purchase a cupcake.
Most awkward one was a group of guys purchased a cupcake each and sat outside the window and kept glancing at me through the window. And every time they finished, they’d order something so they could keep window watching.
Little boys flirt with me.
I had one 5 year old ask me out. Apparently he could take care of me cause he is in boyscouts.
One boy turned 13 and told me he can now date me cause he’s a teenager.
Lots of people come in because not only are our cupcakes stellar, but people rave about our customer service.
I have people calling in requesting me to be their counter girl or to take their call.
They’re getting in a lot of emails and calls complimenting them on their service and apparently raving about me.
Also, supposedly, I am like a cupcake. Or dress like one[?] Because I always wear dresses to work.
I love this part of my job. I give everything I have to make others happy.
So pretty much, work has dominated my life. At first, in the good amazing way. Now, in the ‘I just gave in my 2 weeks notice and I need to get paid cause ALL my paychecks have bounced’, kind of way.
Yeah. Not so pleasant. Every other person at work has quit. I guess I was just the last one to get the memo.. Or I’m just too nice and I don’t want to abandon others. It’s probably the latter.
Work overload. I need to get paid, and the sad thing is that I probably won’t.
I’ve tried asking, but they keep saying they don’t have enough to pay me. Or they ignore my requests. I don’t mean to be a bother, but, I’ve put my heart into working at this company. I’ve grown fond of my coworkers, I love every second I’m at work. I enjoy doing the menial labor and inventory. Plus, I give my all to my customers.
The one thing I’ll miss the most are my customers. I will miss putting a smile on their faces as they walk into the store. I’ll miss greeting them and inquiring about their day and helping to the best extent that I can, which not only entails prompt service, but a smile, some helpful advice, a compliment and the hope that I made someone happy if only for those few minutes.
I don’t really care that much for my check, but more of the principal of it. If I knew before hand that I could work there for free but as an intern or something, just for job experience, I wouldn’t mind as much… But because I’m a paid employee that actually cares and gives 150%, I feel let down. I know I shouldn’t take it personally, but it makes me feel unappreciated.
Now since I have a week and a few days left [and most of my coworkers gone]. I work from 9am-8pm pretty much every day. And since we get pretty busy, I have never taken a lunch break or any type of break. Now looking at my time slot, and my new schedule, I’m actually dreading work this week. I don’t like this feeling.
My job was to just work the front and take orders and be secretary. I loved all of that. But now, I’m running back and forth helping out in the kitchen and in the front, missing out on customers who waited for me to finish up in back. It’s just too much.
I’m a people person. I never say ‘no’. I am social and I wear a smile 24/7. I try to help out others to the best of my capabilities. I will give an arm and a leg to help out my friends. Now I need to finally learn how to take care of myself and not get walked all over.
Gosh, I forgot how much I love doing this stuff. Especially with these girls.
So, yeah. Enjoy.
If you don’t know, Purikura [or ‘Cue’ in Korean], is a photobooth type thing found in Asia. It’s pretty darn awesome because not only is it crazy bright but you can also decorate it after you take the pictures.
I think everyone should do this at least once in their lives. Or, at least with me, cause I’m that stellar.
So apparently when my mom was gardening a humming bird kept landing on her and kept on following her around the garden. Eventually, when she went inside, the hummingbird did too. Now we’re stuck with this random hummingbird.
Yes, I tried freeing her and yes, she can fly. But she returned to my finger….
[The fambam thinks there’s something wrong with her and she’ll/he’ll die soon cause that’s not how they’re supposed to act naturally.]
And now Meeko is trying to eat Flit. I wonder if Pocahontas ever had that problem…
But, until tomorrow, I will have Flit in my possession. Then, I’ll set her on some higher branch and hope that Flit won’t follow me back….
